the heartwood home collection
Home can be found, one little beautiful thing at a time.
Having moved around quite a bit growing up, the idea of a true and lasting home used to feel like a faraway place to me… but it was my dream. While waiting to be in a house of my own, I realized the way in which home can be created through little beautiful things that speak to us. A favorite color palette, a thrifted plate, a painting of a scene that inspires you. All of this creates a sense of home, whether in a rented apartment, your parents’ house, or your forever home.
Enjoy this mini collection of paintings, featuring pastoral scenes, earth tones, and sunlit passages.
Years ago, I bought a children’s book called “Heartwood Hotel” about a mouse who finds a true home during a storm. How cute, right!? I bought it to read to my kids one day, in the future home I couldn’t wait to live in.
I had forgotten about that book until it came time to name these pieces and the collection. The word “heartwood” kept coming up… and I remembered the book and what it represented for me.
This collection is just about a little mouse (me… and maybe you, too?) daydreaming, finding, and creating home—even while things in life are still not yet “finished,” and even as they continue to change and begin again, time after time.
